What we don’t like

  • Prices are on the higher side

Do you need a break from sad salads and mediocre sandwiches? Do you find yourself aimlessly scrolling through your phone, trying to decide where to go for a meal that won’t put you to sleep at your desk? Fear no more, my hungry friends. Put down that stale granola bar because I have the answer to your foodie prayers: COCOCHAN.

It’s so good; it’ll make you forget that Monday is two days away. Step up your lunch game and indulge in some seriously tasty food from a Chinese restaurant in the city, grab your coworkers, and head over to COCOCHAN. And don’t forget to snap a pic for the ‘gram – this place is so Insta-worthy you’ll be the envy of all your followers.

Taste: Passes with Flying Colors

Let me give you a little piece of advice – if you want to avoid the same old Manchurian and Kung Pao, then this is the place for you.

First, let’s talk about Crispy Beef. Oh. My. Goodness. It’s like the chef took a piece of beef and said, “I’m going to make you irresistible.” And boy, did he succeed. The beef stir-fried in a heavenly chili paste, had just the right amount of kick and then mixed with tender onions, sweet peppers, and crunchy baby corn. I was swooning over every bite, practically melting in my seat.

But that wasn’t even the best part. Next up was the Stir-Fried Chicken Served in a Bird’s Nest. Yes, you heard that right – a bird’s nest. Such a fun way to present the dish! Gracefully laid out in a beautiful, crispy nest made of noodles, the chicken was surrounded by vibrant red and green peppers, bamboo shoots, and more of that delicious chili paste – mind-blowing!

And finally, the Vegetable Fried Rice. Now, I know what you’re thinking – “Vegetable fried rice? That sounds boring.” But trust me, this was anything but not boring. Simple, yet so satisfying. I devoured this rice like it was my last meal on Earth.

Price: Worth Every Bite

Now, let’s get down to business. At PKR 1240 for the Crispy Beef and PKR 1140 for the Stir-Fried Chicken Served in a Bird’s Nest, prices are on the higher side, but don’t let that fool you – this eatery is value for money.

All portions were enough for two people to share, so make sure to invite a friend or colleague! And if you take into account the quantity, then you’re getting your money’s worth. Plus, don’t forget the GST – the prices that I’ve quoted are exclusive of the tax.

Service: Going Above and Beyond

As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a gracious and knowledgeable staff who made me feel at home. They were happy to answer any questions I had about the menu or Japan in general. The waiters made excellent recommendations – talk about going above and beyond.

The exceptional service didn’t end there. The staff was attentive without being overbearing, always making sure our water glasses were filled, and our needs were met. Even with my dietary restrictions, they were more than happy to accommodate and suggest alternative dishes that still satisfied my taste buds.

As an added bonus, COCOCHAN is also accessible via FoodPanda – how’s that for convenience? Just order in! But I’d suggest you visit the place or you’d be missing out!

Ambience: Exceptional

Located at Boat Basin, this place was truly something else. It had a contemporary yet classic vibe, with modern decor and soothing music in the background. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting – perfect for getting away from it all.

You don’t have to worry about being disturbed by outside noise or distractions – it’s the perfect spot for a solo lunch or an intimate dinner with your special someone. Plus, the outdoor seating option is great in the evening breeze of Karachi.

Honorable Mentions: You’ll Go Co-Co

Trust me, the Japanese food at COCOCHAN is the perfect addition to an already outstanding menu. If you’re a sushi lover, then you have to try their Sashimi and Sushi. Fresh and beautifully presented, every piece was like a little work of art. And don’t even get me started on the Makimono and House Rolls – they were absolutely divine. I couldn’t help but marvel in each bite.

I particularly enjoyed the Mountain Roll – a crispy fried soft shell crab rolled up with creamy avocado and cucumber and drizzled with a spicy mayo sauce. But the real star of the show was the Stuffed Tuna Maki. Oh my, it was heavenly! The silky, buttery texture of the fatty tuna was like nothing I’d ever tasted before. It was pure perfection, and I can’t wait to go back for more.

Final Verdict

Overall, COCOCHAN is a food lover’s paradise. So, why wait? Grab your coworkers, hop in the car, and get ready to feast like there’s no tomorrow. Head over to Boat Basin and go co-co! And who knows, you might even find your food soulmate in COCOCHAN!
