Time Out For Real Nihari: Review Of Dehli Malik Nihari

The best mouth-watering nihari, Delhi Malik Nihari is the place to go. It is a great place to hang out with male friends but is not recommended for families. Nihari might be expensive, but the taste is worth it.

What we don’t like

  • The price was a bit high.
  • It was not too spacious.

So the story is, I was in Karachi for a conference and it was my last day. I wanted something special for lunch before returning to the airport. My friends suggested we go to Malik Nihari, a famous restaurant in the city known for its nihari, a slow-cooked stew made with Beef.

Dehli Malik Nihari is popular among both locals and visitors to Karachi alike. The restaurant is located on Allama Shabbir Ahmed Usmani Road, in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of the city.

The beef nihari at Malik Nihari is melt-in-your-mouth tender. It’s no wonder why this dish is so popular! Other menu items include Karhi, Qorma, Keema, Keema, and much more Pakistani cuisines.

Nihari: Unforgettable

We ordered Beef Nihari and Nalli Nihari.  The beef nihari was cooked to perfection. The meat was tender, it just melted in your mouth. The gravy was flavorful and had just the right amount of spice. The Nalli Nihari was also very good. The marrow in the bones added richness to the dish.

Price: Heavy On The Wallet

The price of the nihari is a bit too high.  A plain nihari will cost you Rs.380, and the Nalli Nihari will cost you Rs.650. Considering the restaurant’s location and the food’s quality, I think the price is justified.

Service: Friendly

The service at Malik Nihari was good,  the server was attentive and ensured we had Roti to accompany our nihari. The restaurant was clean and spacious with plenty of seating. The restroom was also clean. The food came out promptly, and everything was served hot and fresh.

Ambiance: Good Place To Eat

The ambiance of the restaurant was nice. The chairs and tables were wooden and iron-made. The dining area was not too spacious but it was very beautiful and the decorated ambiance with dim lights gave the restaurant a romantic feel.

Gentry: Best For Everyone

The restaurant is not for families as it’s best for couples or friends. It’s not too spacious so it might be a bit uncomfortable for large groups.

Final Verdict:

Nihari is one of the famous dishes, and its different regions have their own way of making it. Malik Nihari’s nihari was quite good. It wasn’t the best I’ve had but it was definitely worth trying. The gentry is not really for families as it’s quite small, but couples or friends can easily come here and enjoy a meal. The lights are dimmed which gave the place a nice vibe.

All in all, I would recommend giving Malik Nihari a try if you’re ever in Karachi!
