Your Friendly Neighbourhood Pizza: A Review of Domino’s Pizza

I always think of eating out as a game of chance. There’s no guarantee about what you’re going to get. And that’s where the real fun lies! Half of the euphoria is in fear of the unexpected. What thrill can you get from something already out in the open? 

I deliberately and actively check out restaurants to sink my teeth into! There’s nothing wrong with it. I can’t recommend this practice enough. If you keep visiting the same old places, how are you going to discover the new culinary wonders of pizza that are so abundant in our glorious city, Karachi?

I mean, who knows, you might find fast food that you really resonates with you. I have recently connected body and mind with a relative niche diner. I know what most of you are thinking at this point! I sound like a young boy in love. Well, I am! That, too, with Domino’s Pizza.

So what’s so special about the pizza here? Before I talk about the restaurant, let me explain why it is called Domino’s Pizza. It’s because of the game and what it represents. Each domino trusts the one behind it and falls gently into its embrace. The company hopes to recreate this bond of love and respect between itself and its customers. What a beautiful purpose!

Now, about my recent visit to the Domino’s Pizza branch on the Khayaban-e-Ittehad Road, in Phase II of D.H.A. Scroll down and read my thoughts on Domino’s Pizza. Hint: they’re pretty good!

Food: Make What You Want To Eat

There is a treasure cave of flavors at Domino’s Pizza. You have the option to select the ingredients that you want in your pizza. There are two types of meat available: chicken and beef. Both of these have a variety of flavors. As far as the crust is concerned, there are multiple kinds that you can avail of:

• Pan
• Hand-tossed
• Italian
• Crunchy Thin
• Double Melt
• Stuffed Crust
• New Yorker

I have always been a stuffed crust kind of guy, so that’s what I went ahead with and ordered. Mere words can’t describe my love for the stuffed crust. It was perfectly fluffy and teamed with a rich, buttery sauce. You go for what matches your vibe!

If you want the best offering at Domino’s Pizza, read carefully. You can’t go wrong with Tex-Mex. Its authentic Texan and Mexican flavors make it a beautiful combo of western flavors you don’t want to miss! Add on a rich seasoning of green peppers, jalapenos, origami, and black olives, and that’s what makes it a must-try. 

So, if you’re not drooling, I bet the next item on the list will do the job. Are you ready? It’s the Creamy Mughlai pizza. An exciting blend of the East and the West, this fusion flavor can entice taste buds of every kind. With its traditional Mughlai chicken and cheesy mayo base, it’s definitely an acquired taste. But if you get your groove with this pizza, the flavor can take you to new savory heights.

For dessert, we went with the Cinnastix just because the name sounds fantastic! The taste was just as good as the name. It was freshly-baked bread sprinkled with cinnamon that gave off a fragrant aroma. Accompanying this heavenly dish was a cup of vanilla icing that perfectly accentuated the flavor of the cinnamon bread to the next level.

Price: On Par With The Market

So, I have a younger brother and sister that went with my parents and me to the D.H.A branch of Domino’s Pizza. There was no fair deal that met our needs, so we decided to order each item separately. Our cumulative order was:

• Tex-Mex (Large): PKR 2699
• Creamy Mughlai (Medium): PKR 2199
• Cinnastix (8 pcs): PKR 499

The price is market-competitive. But the quantity of each item was enough, making the price worth it. 

Service: The Customer Is Their Sole Purpose

The sole factor that makes Domino’s Pizza stand out head and shoulders above its competition. At Domino’s Pizza, you could see the pizza being prepared right before your eyes. While other restaurants seldom allow kitchen visits, you can even talk to the chef at Domino’s Pizza while he’s making the pizza. Don’t sweat if you’re worried about a security hazard while in the kitchen. All appropriate precautions are in place for your safety.

Even though it’s a pretty small gesture, the reward that Domino’s Pizza reaps is infinite. This helps build a level of trust and loyalty with the customers, which is the backbone of any successful brand.

Domino’s Pizza offers customer-friendly deals and something we would want to avail ourselves of. Another plus point is that card payments are accepted. The staff is also cooperative and professional in their dealings and interactions.

However, I found the seating capacity to be limited, but that’s understandable. Domino’s Pizza is not one of those places that is always full to the brim. They have a small yet loyal following. They do not need to build big restaurants. To compensate for the lack of space, Domino’s Pizza allows customers to make reservations and even provides complimentary decorations.

Another thing that differentiates Domino’s Pizza from other brands is its serving style. Instead of regular plates, triangular cardboard cutouts are provided. Frankly speaking, I’m mixed about them. While they help reduce water loss since no leaves must be washed, these paper plates are unsustainable and environmentally unfriendly.

Ambiance: Not Too Fancy

If you want me to put it in a single word, it’s quaint. The Domino’s Pizza branches are free from all the expectations other prominent pizza places have to uphold rigorously. The customers know exactly what they want, and Domino’s Pizza provides them with it. Since Domino’s Pizza is a food chain, they adhere to a similar infrastructure in all its branches.

This freedom from burden allows Domino’s Pizza to focus on more fruitful pursuits, mainly the taste and quality of its food. That’s what matters!

I’m not saying that Domino’s Pizza completely neglects its ambiance. On the contrary, the restaurant is quiet and sophisticated, giving off a new vibe. Even during peak hours, the restaurant is half-full, so overcrowding is never an issue. The gentry is primarily middle and upper class. It’s a great place to go with friends or family.

Honorable Mentions: Two For The Price Of One

There’s this excellent deal at Domino’s Pizza that I can’t recommend enough. Are you ready to hear it? It’s the Holy Friday. With this deal, you can buy one pizza and get one free! That’s a pretty smooth offer, if I say so myself! The price will differ with each order. If you order two pizzas, you’ll get four of them but will only have to pay for two. Similarly, the price will vary depending on the number of pizzas you want.

I was impressed that Domino’s Pizza is willing to treat its customers with such a premium deal. This means that Domino’s Pizza is committed to building a mutually beneficial relationship with its buyers. 

And that’s not all! Try the Dynamite Kickers! Doesn’t it sound absolutely bonkers? It is, with its Dynamite Sauce-drenched chicken breast pieces. This delicious dish has spicy crumbs that have been deep-fried until it’s golden.

Final Verdict:

After everything’s been said and done, Domino’s Pizza has established a niche position in the market. That can only be achieved by a brand that fully understands its target audience, potential, and USP. Instead of trying to fit in with the big boys, Domino’s Pizza has always stood out by not giving in to industry norms and showing a heightened sense of individualism.
