Café De Paris: A Review of Jardin

Mesdames et Messieurs, allow me to recount my visit to a little slice of Paris – Jardin. The gentle notes of French music wafted through the air as I walked in, and the exquisite décor spoke of a refined taste and an eye for detail. 

Settling into my seat, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of anticipation. Jardin is known for its classic and Continental cuisine, and I was eager to try their renowned steaks. I’d heard that they’d been crafted with such care that it made my mouth water just thinking about it. 

So how was this French diner, you may ask? Well, without giving much away, if you’re looking for a restaurant where food and music come together beautifully, then Bienvenue à Jardin – welcome to Paradise. Keep on reading my review!

Taste: A Masterpiece of Meat

As I gazed at the room, my eyes locked onto a small blackboard placed skillfully near the main entrance, amplifying its visibility. Written on the board were the words Chef’s Recommendation and beneath it: Le Rare Beef Steak. I knew little about the dish but wanted to see what all the fuss was about – I mean landing on the Chef’s Recommendation blackboard is no easy feat.

Upon ordering the dish, the waiter brought out a platter of raw meat and a hot stone stove to my table. Watching the meat being cut into thin slices right in front of me only heightened my anticipation. The sizzling sound of the meat hitting the hot stone stove was like music to my ears, and I could already smell the rich aroma of beef filling the air.

The chef skillfully fried the beef slices with salt and pepper, and kept pouring butter at intervals to ensure the juiciest and most succulent flavor came out of the beef. And man, was it worth it! The first bite was like heaven – the tender, juicy meat melted in my mouth and the buttery goodness coated my tongue. Oh. My. God.

It was absolute perfection – rare, yet somehow crispy on the outside and delicately pinkish on the inside. As I savored the last bite, I couldn’t help but feel like I just had a masterpiece. Le Rare Beef Steak was a true work of art – every ingredient, every texture, was carefully thought and artfully executed.

If you’re a meat lover, you simply cannot leave Jardin without trying their Le Rare Beef Steak. It will stay with you forever. It certainly stayed with me!

Price: Zero Regrets

Now, I know what you’re thinking – PKR 1795 for a steak? That’s a bit steep. And yes, I’ll admit, it’s definitely on the pricier side. However, the shocking thing is that I wouldn’t have minded paying a little extra for the sheer pleasure of it all.

It was that good. I promise you, once you try that steak, you won’t regret a single rupee spent. It’s an experience that’s truly worth every penny.

Service: A Class Apart

It was nothing short of amazing. From the moment I walked through the doors, the staff made me feel like a VIP – their mannered tones, cheerful smiles and lighthearted chatter was simply delightful. The waiters were prompt and attentive in taking orders, refilling drinks and clearing plates.

The host himself even dropped by our table to inquire about our experience – something I haven’t seen in many restaurants in Karachi. It was little touches like this that left me feeling truly taken care of at Jardin.

Ambience: Jaisay Shayyar Ki Ghazal

Located on Ittehad Lane 6, Khayaban-e-Ghazi, D.H.A. Phase VI, Jardin is not just a restaurant; it’s a destination. It’s as if the restaurant had been plucked out of the pages of a storybook and brought to life. With its aged finishes, classical arches, wrought iron furniture, and floating lights, it truly awakened the Shakespeare inside me. 

The French-inspired décor created an atmosphere of warmth and sophistication, inviting me to linger and drink in every moment. The white-and-gold aesthetic only added to the allure, and I found myself in a state of trance. The elegance of Jardin was matched only by the exquisite cuisine that it served. 

Honorable Mentions: On Cloud Nine

After finishing my steak, I scanned through the menu and noticed they also had a section for pizzas. Now, I’m a sucker for a good pizza, so naturally, I had to give it a try. I decided to go for the New York Pizza – it was as unexpected as the name suggested.

As soon as the pizza arrived at my table, I could smell the heavenly aroma of melted cheese and freshly baked crust. The chipotle sauce gave the pizza a slight kick of spice, which blended perfectly with the savory beef pepperoni and the tangy Parmesan cheese.

The melted mozzarella cheese added a creamy, delicious texture to each bite, and I couldn’t resist going back for seconds. It was the perfect pizza – not too heavy, not too greasy, and just the right amount of toppings. A definite recommend!

Final Verdict

The verdict is in and it’s unanimous – Jardin is simply divine! From the décor, to the music, to the food – each element comes together gorgeously and makes you feel like you’ve been taken to a little piece of paradise. 

I cannot recommend Jardin enough – whether it’s for a date night, or an evening with friends and family, this restaurant will take your breath away. So put on your best clothes, bring out your appetite, and get ready for a culinary magic that is Jardin!
