In the heart of Clifton, Koel Café is a serene haven that exudes a natural charm. From the moment I stepped into this delightful eatery, I was transported into a world of blissful chirping and intoxicating aromas. 

It is here, amidst the lush surroundings, that I celebrated Mother’s Day, lured by whispers of extraordinary experiences that awaited. I was eager to see if it lived up to its reputation as one of the best cafés in town. As the doors swung open, my heart fluttered with anticipation, for I knew this would be a celebration beyond compare. Spoiler alert: it did not disappoint. 

Taste: There’s Nothing Quite Like it

You love Pastas’ too? The Alfredo with Blackened Chicken at Koel Café was not just a meal; it was love at first sight – a passionate affair that ignited my senses and delighted my soul. Fettuccine pasta, lovingly bathed in a velvety béchamel sauce, served as the canvas for a masterpiece in culinary artistry.

With eager anticipation, I took my first bite. The delicate strands of pasta danced on my palate, embracing me with their silky texture. The sauce, a harmonious blend of creaminess and savory indulgence, enveloped each morsel, leaving me craving more. 

And then, there it was – the star of the show, the blackened chicken breast, it’s charred exterior offering a tantalizing smokiness that mingled with the creaminess of the sauce. The marriage of flavors was a revelation. 

The gentle acidity of diced tomatoes added a burst of freshness, while the generous sprinkle of parmesan cheese imparted a subtle nuttiness that elevated the dish to new heights. In that moment, time seemed to stand still as I surrendered to the flavors dancing upon my tongue. 

Price: An Experience That Transcends Price

The Alfredo with Blackened Chicken, priced at PKR 1200, may seem a bit higher compared to other Continental restaurants. However, in all honesty, when the bill arrived, I was surprised to see that I hadn’t even given the price a second thought. Instead, it was consumed by the sheer magnificence of the food I had just experienced. 

The exquisite meal had been a priceless experience, one that I would gladly pay for again and again. All in all, excellent value for money!

Service: A Sweet Surprise

The staff at Koel Café truly went above and beyond to make our Mother’s Day celebration a memorable one. After we’d eaten our meal, we were pleasantly surprised to receive a complimentary Lava Cake courtesy of the thoughtful staff. It was a small gesture, but it greatly impacted  our overall experience.

However, the service was not without its flaws. It took a little longer than expected, about 30-40 minutes, for our food to be served, which was a bit of a disappointment. Nevertheless, the excellent customer service more than made up for the delay.

Another great thing about Koel Café is that they offer foodpanda delivery, making it easier for customers to enjoy their delicious food from the comfort of their own homes.

Ambience: A Serenade for the Senses

Koel Café is truly a place where beauty and taste intertwine, creating an enchanting experience for art lovers and food enthusiasts alike. The ambience of this establishment was simply breathtaking, providing a relaxing atmosphere that soothed the soul.

With both indoor and outdoor seating options, we could choose to find solace in the cozy interior or immerse ourselves in the natural surroundings. We went with the latter.

But what set Koel Café apart was the addition of a fabulous Art Gallery, showcasing edgy exhibitions and hosting engaging workshops. As we explored the premises, we stepped into The Beautiful Zen Shop, a treasure trove of delights. Here, we discovered Noor Jehan Bilgrami’s classical signature block-printed items, exuding timeless elegance. 

Honorable Mentions: Delightful Duos

Do yourself a favor and indulge in the Artichoke dip. Oh, what’s that, you ask? An absolute marvel! I had it last week, and my mouth still waters just thinking about it.

The velvety, creamy artichoke dip was an exquisite masterpiece, with hints of garlic and herbs dancing on my palate. And when paired with the soft and fluffy Kulcha, the experience was elevated to divine heights. The warm, pillowy bread provided the perfect vessel to scoop up the dip, allowing the flavors to meld together in a heavenly union.

To elevate this already incredible combination, Koel Café served it with the classic Shikanjabeen. The refreshing tang of the lemonade infused with aromatic spices was the ideal companion to the rich and creamy dip. If you’re looking for a snack or an appetizer, I highly recommend trying it out!
