What we don’t like

  • A bit crowded parking area

Welcome to my latest food adventure in Karachi, where I had the pleasure of visiting “La Chine” – the restaurant that promises to transport you straight to the heart of China without the hassle of a visa application. Yes, for those of you who do not know about La Chine, it is a very famous Chinese restaurant in Karachi.

I must admit, I was a little skeptical at first – I mean, what could a place called “La Chine” possibly know about authentic Chinese cuisine? But after one bite of their food, I quickly realized I was wrong. Really wrong. On that note, let’s dive into my review.

Taste: A Dollop of Magic Sauce

I still haven’t figured out what sorcery the chefs at La Chine perform to make their food so mouth-wateringly delicious. The Hot & Sour Red Prawn Soup looked like a fiery inferno in a bowl! The deep red color was enough to make me break into a sweat. As I took a spoonful, I could feel the heat creeping up on me, but it was quickly followed by a burst of tangy sourness. The prawns were plump and juicy, adding a seafood twist to the soup.

Next up was the Chicken Chow Mein. It was a tangle of noodles, chicken, and vegetables, all in perfect harmony. As I dug in, I could feel the noodles wrapping around my tongue like a warm, comforting hug. The chicken was juicy and tender, and the vegetables added a nice crunch. The sauce was flavorful, without being too overpowering. All in all, this dish made me feel like I was snuggled up in a cozy blanket on a cold winter night.

But the best was yet to come. The Mongolian Chicken with Vegetable Fried Rice looked like a colorful mosaic, with the chicken and vegetables scattered throughout the rice like jewels. The chicken was cooked to perfection, with a slightly sweet and savory flavor that melted in my mouth. The vegetables added a nice crunch, and the rice was fluffy and fragrant. The overall combination was pure magic. It made me feel like a culinary mastermind, even though I was just a hungry customer.

Price: A Bang For Your Buck

As if the taste wasn’t enough, La Chine also offers incredibly affordable prices. All of their dishes are averagely priced and are inclusive of GST. You can pay by cash or card, so no matter what your preference is, you’re covered. Plus, the portions are generous and you get a lot for your money. You’ll be able to enjoy a five-star meal without burning a hole in your wallet.

Service: All Smiles Here

The servers at La Chine were all smiles, ready to serve us with a friendly attitude. Their enthusiasm made us feel like we were at home, and it was a pleasure dining there. Plus, they deliver! So if you’re feeling a little too lazy to go out and pick up your food, simply order online via FoodPanda and have it delivered to your doorstep.

Ambience: Intimate and Inviting

When it comes to the ambience, La Chine has created a small and intimate setting.  The walls were painted in dark red hues, giving the restaurant a royal yet cozy feel. The seating area is well-lit, so you don’t have to worry about racing against time before your food gets cold. Plus, the washrooms are clean and family-friendly, so you can take your little ones along without any worries. The only downside was that the parking on the street side was a bit crowded. But that’s a small price to pay for an experience like this.

Honorable Mentions: Continental Chow-Down

It seems I missed an important detail earlier! La Chine doesn’t just serve Chinese cuisine, but they also have Continental options like steaks and pasta.  Talk about diversity in a restaurant! It’s like going to a spa for a relaxing massage and finding out they offer boxing classes too. Hey, variety is the spice of life, right? Who knows, maybe next time you can indulge in some pasta after a spicy Szechuan feast.

Final Verdict

I absolutely loved my visit to La Chine. Sure, there were some hiccups along the way but they weren’t major. Nothing that could derail my experience. With that said, I’d urge you to take time out of your schedule and visit La Chine. The place has earned it.
