What we don’t like

  • A bit pricey

As I wandered around in the corridors of the Ramada Plaza, the smell of something heavenly caught my notice. The heavenly waft of aroma led me to La Terrasse, a restaurant that had eluded me until now.  Not many restaurants in Karachi managed to have done that! As someone with a deep appreciation for buffets, I couldn’t resist the allure of this establishment.

My anticipation grew with each step I took toward the entrance, and I couldn’t wait to indulge in the culinary offerings within. From that moment on, I knew that my dining experience would be nothing short of extraordinary.

Taste: The Buffet of a Lifetime

As I entered La Terrasse, my eyes widened at the sight of the enormous buffet spread out before me. There were rows upon rows of freshly prepared dishes, each more tempting than the last. My stomach growled with hunger as I surveyed all the options before me. I decided to start with something desi. The tangy Pani Puri was a delight, the crispy shell that bursts into the refreshing, spicy tamarind water was amazing!

Next, I moved on to the salads. I couldn’t help but pile my plate high with fresh greens, juicy cherry tomatoes, and crisp cucumbers. The balsamic vinaigrette was the perfect complement, adding just the right amount of tanginess to the dish. As I ate, I felt like I was communing with nature,  and I truly relished every bite.

Moving on to the main course, the Butter Chicken was rich and creamy, and the tomato-based gravy was beautiful, coating the tender chunks of chicken. Finally, I reached over to the Chinese section and faced a dilemma. Should I go for the Sweet and Sour Chicken, the Kung Pao Chicken, or both?

I decided upon piling my plate high with both dishes, along with some vegetable-fried rice. As I walked back to my table, I felt both triumphant and slightly guilty. How on earth was I going to finish all this food? But I soldiered on!

However, the pièce de résistance was the dessert selection. Oh, the variety was overwhelming! I tried to sample a little bit of everything, but it was almost impossible. The standout, though, was the Gulab Jamun – moist and succulent, the sugary syrup soaked deep into the spongy dough.

I also managed to fit in a slice of creamy cheesecake and a handful of fresh strawberries before collapsing back in my chair, thoroughly stuffed and satisfied. My stomach was now protesting loudly, and I knew I had to make a quick exit before things got really messy. As I stumbled out of La Terrasse, clutching my bloated belly, I couldn’t help but laugh at myself. But one thing was for sure, I would be back again to conquer that buffet again.

Price: Is it Worth the Splurge?

Disclaimer: The following prices are at the time of publishing. They are subject to change.

You simply will not believe it! At a shocking PKR 3500, La Terrasse is definitely not the cheapest buffet in town. But is it worth the splurge? I think that there are easily several other spots that may offer more variety in their spread at an even lower price point!

It’s clear that part of the reason for the high price at La Terrasse is its location in the Ramada Plaza, one of the most premium hotels in Karachi. While that does add to the overall experience, it’s hard to say whether it justifies the steep price tag.

So, is La Terrasse worth it? That’s up to you to decide. A truly luxurious buffet experience may have you spending a little extra! But if you’re on a budget, there are definitely more affordable options out there that won’t cost as much.

Service: Comes with a Side of Smile

With buffet restaurants, service can often be hit or miss. But at La Terrasse, the staff truly goes above and beyond to make the dining experience top-notch.

The servers were always on hand to help with anything you needed. Need a plate? They grabbed one for me. Not sure where to find the pakoras? They pointed me in the right direction. And there was always someone ready to refill my drink!

But what really sets the staff at La Terrasse apart is their attention to detail. The waiters stood alert  behind each counter, ensuring that all the dishes were always full and nothing ran short. And if I had any special requests, like a fresh Garlic Naan, the chef was more than happy to oblige. Plus, the reservations are also available through the official Ramada website for all interested parties.

Ambience: The Classy Charm of La Terrasse

If there’s one thing I can say about La Terrasse, it’s that the ambience is on point. The decor is modern and chic, with a dark brown, wooden theme that gave it a classy and sophisticated feel. The lighting was soft, giving the space a cozy and intimate vibe. I also noticed that the arrangement of the tables promised a private spot, so that one can enjoy the meal without feeling cramped or crowded.

The buffet counters were well-laid out, making it easy to navigate and choose from the wide variety of dishes available. The restaurant was spacious, with plenty of seating options for both individuals and larger groups.

While the indoor dining area was lovely, the real standout was the poolside option. It had a relaxed, laid-back vibe and comfortable seating options that accompanied a lovely view of the Ramada Plaza’s pool. It was the perfect setting to enjoy a leisurely meal with friends or family.

Honorable Mentions: Three Buffets a Day Keep the Doctor Away

It’s not just dinner that’s available at La Terrasse – the buffet options extend to breakfast and lunch as well! That’s right, you can stuff your face with all deliciousness not just once but three times a day. Who needs to worry about portion control when you’ve got a never-ending parade of food in front of you?

Final Verdict

So why bother with measly little meals when you can go big and go buffet? I’m not sure if my waistline can handle all that temptation, but I’ll definitely be back to try my luck. After all, where else can you indulge so greedily? La Terrasse truly is the buffet to end all buffets.
