We have a Winner, Folks: A Review of Marco Polo at Pearl Continental

Are you ready to make your taste buds do the tango? 

Well, get ready for a review that’s hotter than a jalapeño in a sauna. Recently, I strutted my foodie self into the Marco Polo at Pearl Continental for their hi-tea buffet, and let me tell you, I was more excited than a kid at a candy store. 

With expectations higher than my heels, I dove in fork-first, ready to be wowed. 

So, sit back, relax, and let me take you on a food journey that’ll make you want to lick your screen.

Taste: Spicy, Sweet, and everything in between

First up on my plate were the Fry Prawns, and let me tell you, these little suckers were crispy and juicy. The only downside was that they were so addictive that I couldn’t stop popping them into my mouth. 

Next, I tried the Shawarma, a mouth-watering blend of tender meat, crunchy veggies, and creamy sauce. The grease running down my mouth was so good that I almost forgot I was in a five-star hotel, not a street food stall.

Moving on, I had the fish stuffed with spinach, and I have to admit, it wasn’t my favorite. The fish was overcooked, and the spinach filling was a bit bland for my taste. 

On the other hand, the Roast Beef Sandwiches were a game-changer. The beef was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the bread was soft and pillowy. It was the ultimate comfort food, and I could have eaten ten more of them if I wasn’t already halfway through my food coma.

Next, I tried Paya. It was an absolute bomb! The meat was so tender that it just fell off the bone, and the broth packed with spices danced on my taste buds. It had just the right amount of heat to warm me up from the inside out.

Lastly, the Kashmiri Chai. It was sweet, creamy, and had a hint of spice that warmed me up from the inside out. It was like a hug in a cup.

Price: Worth every Penny

At PKR 2250 per head, including tax, Marco Polo’s hi-tea buffet is less expensive than other buffet restaurants!

Sure, there was a limited amount of variety on the menu (16 dishes total), but what was there was delicious and satisfied my hunger.

Service: You can’t Please Everyone

I have to be honest, the service was a bit slow. It took the waiters a while to refill items, and they didn’t put enough servings in the buffet bowls (even when it was super busy).

Other than that, the staff was friendly and responsive throughout.

The ambiance at Marco Polo was a pleasant surprise. It’s a spacious venue with tasteful decorations and plenty of seating options. 

The best part, though, was the live music performance by the singer. I couldn’t catch her name, but man, she was something else! Her voice was smooth like melted butter, and I couldn’t help but tap my foot along to it!

Honorable Mentions: Attention Breakfast Lovers!

Marco Polo not only serves an epic hi-tea buffet, but they also have a breakfast spread that will make you dance with joy. There’s everything from Halwa Poori to French Toast to Anda Paratha.

And, of course, no breakfast is complete without a steaming cup of chai. So, whether you’re a fan of classic, masala, or Kashmiri chai, they’ve got it all.
