It’s All In The Name: A Review of Meat The Cheese
Meat The Cheese is one of the most premium restaurants in Karachi. The food is mouth-watering and the ambiance is picture-perfect. Plus, the staff treats you like royalty. On the negative side, the price is exorbitant and will turn off people.

What we like
- The food is top-of-the-line
- The service is excellent
- Gorgeous ambiance
What we don’t like
- The price is high
I’m a huge foodie! It’s part and parcel of having a speedy metabolism. This leaves me with quite the appetite that demands to be satiated from time to time. In particular, my taste buds crave restaurants that know how to deliver the extra kick to their dishes.
There are no restaurants in Karachi whose food I haven’t hungrily devoured. From BBQ houses to nihari places, I have been everywhere. I was surprised when I discovered the amazing pizza from Meat The Cheese had escaped my notice. This left me noticeably frustrated since Meat The Cheese has quite the reputation among Karachiites for its finger-licking fast food and beautiful ambiance.
Seldom does a restaurant fully inhibits its name the way Meat The Cheese has done. Every dish here is overloaded with meat and cheese. If you get a rush of endorphins just from the name of these two, Meat The Cheese is the one for you. A match made in heaven, if I’m being frank. As far as I’m concerned, I’m delighted to be married to Meat The Cheese.
But no marriage is without its problems, is it? And I do have some significant issues with Meat The Cheese. Want to know what they are? Scroll down and read my entire article for a detailed review of the place.
Food: Let’s Slide Through Cheese
You can’t go wrong with the cheesy goodness of Meat The Cheese. Just promise me one thing. You won’t drool while reading what’s coming next because it’ll entice all five senses. So, let’s begin with what I had for starters. We’ll be making our way from there onwards.
The Cheesy Chick On A Stick! Yeah, it is as simple as it sounds. But where Meat The Cheese manages to enhance the culinary experience is in its presentation. The golden crispy chicken pieces were skewered and beautifully laid on a bed of fries. We asked the waiter to have our chicken sticks drowned in thick Raclette cheese. It served as the perfect warm-up for the drilling course my stomach was about to go through!
For the main course, we moved on to the Latino Jalapeno pizza. A bit odd of a flavor, but what’s life without a little risk, am I right? You’ll be happy to know that the gamble paid off beautifully. However, keep one thing in mind, the pizza is spicy. Not everyone’s heat threshold can handle the spiciness of the amazing pizza. This is no small thanks to the relentless onslaught of jalapenos and bell peppers. Imported mozzarella and Parmesan cheese give the cheesy kick that a pizza needs.
And then there’s the Dreamy Mister Alfredo. It’s quite an exciting name, won’t you say? It takes special creativity to rejuvenize a dish by changing its name drastically. And it has worked flawlessly! I mean, the character does catch the eye, doesn’t it?
So, now onto its taste. The fettuccine pasta is delicately pureed in a rich and creamy sauce. I can still taste the parmesan topping on my tongue. It was so good!
For dessert, we forged on with Dark Chocolate Tart. It consisted of a perfectly baked pastry base filled to the brim with cool dark chocolate syrup. The pastry biscuit crumbled inside my mouth on the first bite, overflowing my taste buds with chocolatey richness. You can’t have better than that!
Price: A Deal Breaker
Disclaimer: The prices quoted below are subject to change. The current prices are dated 28 November 2022. (As per the official Facebook page of Meat The Cheese).
There were four of us in total who visited Meat The Cheese. Our cumulative order was:
- Cheesy Chick On A Stick: PKR 785
- Latino Jalapeno: PKR 1125
- Dreamy Mister Alfredo: PKR 915
- Dark Chocolate Tart: PKR 750
Before I give you my honest opinion regarding the price, there are a few things I would like to clarify. Yeah, the food taste is heavenly, all drenched in cheese. And yeah, the serving size is also more than satisfactory. But in no way does that mean that Meat The Cheese can charge the exorbitant astronomical amount they are charging. It is not only unethical, but it’s also unfair.
It is impossible for the diner’s die-hard fans to convince others to overcome the price barrier. The high price also turns off any casual person. I asked around my friends and relatives who frequently visit the restaurant. According to them, the price of food is increasing way too steeply.
I’d advise the management to keep a check and balance on the price. There is still time to contain this negativity before it spills out of control and becomes unmanageable. This would negatively impact the commercial performance of Meat The Cheese.
Service: They Won My Heart
Overall, I’m really impressed with the service of Meat The Cheese. Basically, what happened was that when we were served the Cheesy Chick On A Stick, it was a little too salty. We reached out to the waiter with our problem, and he called the manager. The manager tasted the dish and declared that the dish should be remade especially for us. This was a boss move as it not only won us over but also improved the word-of-mouth of the place.
Other than that, the serving time was also adequate. It took only 20-25 minutes from the minute we placed our order to the time the food was served at the table. That’s impressive, considering we visited the place around 5 PM, and the restaurant was almost full.
Ambiance: A Strategic Stronghold
Meat The Cheese is located on Tipu Sultan Road near the Karachi Memon Co-operative Housing Society. That is why the diner should be at the top of your priority list. There are some well-known restaurants in the same vicinity which increase the overall attractiveness of the area. Meat The Cheese does benefit tremendously from its strategic location.
As far as the restaurant itself is concerned, it is spacious as the tables are kept far apart. As a result, I didn’t feel confined or suffocated.
The interior design is lovely, with cheesy quotes plastered onto the walls. The place is well-lit and fragrant. The washrooms, too, are clean and functional.
The gentry of Meat The Cheese is usually middle and upper-class citizens who can afford to dish out cash every once in a while. As a result, it’s a solid place to hang out with friends, go on a date, or take your family out to dinner.
Honorable Mentions: Good Ol’ Burgers and Steaks
It’s always recommended to keep switching from what you regularly eat to something more unconventional. Although burgers are far from unconventional, it’s interesting to move away from the specialty dish of Meat The Cheese, i.e., pizzas and pasta.
If you’re a part of the burger crowd, no worries! Meat The Cheese has an entire assortment of adventurous flavors to spice up your taste buds! My favorite is the Meat The Classic. It’s a hot beef burger layered with onions and Ricky Cheese Mayo. For the convenience of the customers, the burger is also available in chicken.
The steaks are also a must-try. For chicken options, read the menu’s Birds Of A Feather section. You’ll find Thunder Thigh and Bacon Me Crazy, and my personal favorite, Sing Me A Medley. For beef options, pour over the Holy Cow Special and go for the Tender Loving Loin with its tenderloin steak.
Final Verdict:
When all’s said and done, Meat The Cheese does manage to stand tall and proud. The food is absolutely delicious, the ambiance gorgeous, and the service efficient. However, the price is its main drawback. If this problem is fixed, there’s nothing stopping Meat The Cheese from establishing a stronghold in the hearts of Karachiites.
So, these are my full thoughts regarding Meat The Cheese. What are your opinions regarding them? Care for a visit? I’d say definitely full steam ahead!
