I’m Hafsa Sheikh, a fearless food critic extraordinaire! My insatiable hunger for exceptional cuisine has led me to explore some of Pakistan’s most renowned restaurants and hidden eateries.
You can call me a foodie adventurer, blazing a trail through the culinary wilderness of Pakistani food, Fast Food, Chinese delicacies, Continental delights, and the wonderful realm of beverages. Just so you don't have to!
With my fork as my compass and my stomach as my guide, I’ve discovered some of the country’s most delectable delights. Join me on this journey, and get ready for a wild ride!
It’s a famous saying that the way to the heart is through the stomach. I can’t praise the person who coined this phrase enough. It takes a thorough understanding of the human psyche to come up with something simple yet truthful. It hits a little too close to home! And it definitely should. For most of us Karachiites, food is the end-all of everything. There’s nothing in our lives that a good meal won’t fix. That’s the power of food and a testament to the resilience of the people of Karachi.
As far as I’m concerned, this phrase is like my mantra in life. I’m the sort of person who doesn’t shy away from eating strange and exciting dishes. It keeps me sane and always on my toes, looking for the next it-place in the city. And this quest for a culinary extravaganza led me to Naan Stop’s doorstep. It’s like it was written in the stars!
If you’re a Karachiite, I’m sure you’ve heard the name Naan Stop in passing. But you need to keep on close eye on Naan Stop. It’s not like other diners in Karachi. Through sheer ingenious, Naan Stop has curated a marriage of convenience between the East and the West. More specifically, between their tastes and cultures. And the result is thoroughly marvelous!
It takes a particular type of creativity and insanity (I’m saying this in the best possible way) to come up with a concept so mind-blowing. So, if you have made it to this point, you won’t want to miss what’s coming next. I’d recommend you scroll down as fast as possible and get a thorough review of Naan Stop.
If it isn’t clear from my drooling of Naan Stop above, I’m a massive sucker for fast food. And my friends who’re not really into getting out of their comfort also fell in love with the food at Naan Stop. There’s some pixie magic that Naan Stop sprinkles over its customers that we can’t stop raving about the place.
But why exactly are we so passionate about Naan Stop? It’s because there’s something about the unexpected blend of flavors that tickles me down to the core. Honestly speaking, no other place in Karachi has inflamed my imagination and taste buds quite like Naan Stop. That’s saying something. I’m not someone who’s very easily impressed. Years of food reviewing experience have made me stone-hearted and unflinching.
With that in mind, let me shift your attention to the absolutely oh-so-heavenly Naanza. Have you ever had naan with pizza? It’s a weird combo; no second thoughts about it. I, too, admit it openly that when I first heard about it, I was a little hesitant about tasting the dish. But in the end, my adventurous spirit won over my more-vigilant subconscious. I’m glad that it did! Otherwise, I would have never found my new favorite dish.
It’s like you have all the parts and parcels of the tastiest pizza, from the seasoning to the toppings to the shape. But where the Naanza differs from a traditional pizza is in its dough. Instead of a typical base, a Naanza has a naan. It’s quite something. Well, the taste is over the moon.
I still can’t stop singing praises about the Naanza Tikka Spicy. There are hot tikka chunks plastered beautifully with jalapenos and onions on top of the naan. Every ingredient has a great synergy that results in a truly mouth-watering meal.
The other two flavors that I tried were the Naanza Creamy and the Naanza Supreme. Both were delicious in their own regard, but they were pretty basic. I had eaten pizzas with similar tastes from other pizza places. The only difference was the naan as the base. Neither of them could match the high standard that was set by Naanza Tikka Spicy.
Still, I don’t have anything negative to say about the food.
Price: Bang For Your Buck
Disclaimer: The prices quoted below are subject to change. The current prices are dated 30 November 2022. (As per the official website of Naan Stop).
There were six of us in total. Taking that into consideration, we went ahead with the Naanza Trio Deal 1. It was pleasingly sufficient for my friends and me. The deal included the following:
- Naanza Tikka Spicy
- Naanza Creamy
- Naanza Supreme
- 1 Ltr Drink
Do you know what the best part about this deal is? It’s the fact that the price is uncommonly reasonable. Our cumulative order was just PKR 1999. Add to that that 3 Naanzas were more than enough for us. We had to pack some leftovers for later since the serving was so generous.
If you want my honest reaction, it’s truly phenomenal. When I was first hungrily engrossed over the menu, I couldn’t believe my eyes. I rechecked it with the waiter as it was so unexpected. Nevertheless, it was not a daydream. The price is that economical. I’d give full marks to Naan Stop for so expertly balancing the scrumptiousness of their Naanzas with a great price. A definite recommendation! If not for anything, go for the outstanding value for the money you’ll get.
But keep in mind that Naan Stop accepts cash only. Credit and debit card services are not provided. So make sure you have loose cash in hand whenever you visit. Otherwise, you can transfer payment to the official Naan Stop Jazz Cash account.
Service: The Pros Outweigh The Cons
The parking space was more than adequate. It was well managed, with a security guard also present. I had no qualms about parking as I was sure my car would be excellent. The staff was also very kind and considerate. The waiters and receptionists were fluent in both English and Urdu.
However, I did have an issue with the seating arrangement. There was an outdoor setting, but it seemed cramped and complete to the brim. Over-crowding was also an issue due to the limited number of seats. We were lucky enough to reach by 8 PM because a long waiting line started forming after that time.
On the plus side, there’s a unique hall reserved only for families. The place is accessible for wheelchairs which is always appreciated.
After my first visit to Naan Stop, I couldn’t get the taste of the Naanza off my mind. So three days later, I decided to order another Naanza online. I’m happy to declare that even the online delivery service is up to par with the best. Naan Stop can either place the order through Naan stops websit or FoodPanda.
To further test the service of Naan Stop and come up with a conclusive decision, I went with the website. The food came hot and tasted just like it did at the restaurant. Therefore, no complaints from my end.
Ambiance: The Location’s A Problem
I’m sure you must have heard the name Naan Stop at least once. But you won’t be able to place it on the map. Nor could you verbally guide a friend to the diner. That’s the main drawback of Naan Stop. Even though its located at Bahadurabad Bahadur Yar Jang CHS, it has failed to take full advantage of the poshness of the area. The Naan Stop restaurant is situated in quite a secluded street off the beaten track.
In all honesty, that’s got to change. We wasted a lot of time just trying to reach the place. Maybe the management at Naan Stop doesn’t want the restaurant to become a significant player in the food sector, but still, from all business perspectives; it’s unwise. A change of location can work wonders for Naan Stop. Even casual customers would be easily able to visit. No more dependency on a die-hard Naan Stoppian or Google Maps.
But once we had entered the restaurant, there was a complete 180-degree change in our collective mood. The place emanated a fragrant aroma of freshly-baked naans and hot spices. The lighting was adequate, and the floor was tiled. Overall, the place was very vibey and distinct in its look.
As far as the gentry of Naan Stop is concerned, the customers were usually young, with a minute number of people being older. The place is entirely safe to visit with family or with family.
Honorable Mentions: Not Just Naanzas!
Naan Stop is so much more than just its Naanza! There’s an entire truckload of food items available that are not just begging for your attention but are also well worth your money.
Take the Beef Bang burger, for instance. It hits you right in the stomach with its tangy sauce and perfectly done meat. Chicken options, such as Grill O Chicken Burger and the Crispy Buffalo Burger, are available.
And don’t let me start on the Animal Fries. Even though the name may be a turn-off for some people, I assure you the taste will not disappoint. With a special homemade Naan Stop sauce, this starter is a must-try.
So, what do you guys think? I have laid out my entire experience at Naan Stop clearly before you. Has it managed to attract you, or are you not that impressed with it?
Still, I think Naan Stop deserves to be visited at least once. Yeah, I admit that the seating can be challenging to accommodate, and online payments are a major barrier. But the price is well worth it based on the creative way Naan Stop blended the East and the West traditions.
