Nokia is a big brand. They have been working in the mobile market for a long time. They introduced their smartphones with windows, but android got popularity among the general population due to its simplicity and usability. Their wild move ended badly and now they have shifted towards android phones.
This year Nokia has introduced their new smartphone which is C-31. This is just another android phone with a good amount of features.
This phone caters out all the basic needs of android phone users. It fulfills all the basic requirements of a phone. Plus it has some standout features as well so let's dive deep into this phone and know more!
Design
Talking about the design of this phone, I can safely say that this phone has an elegant design. It is engineered in a very simple design yet maintaining the aesthetics of the overall cell phone.
This phone is made of plastic. Its back and sides are plastic, but they don’t feel cheap. It has a monotone back color.
It has a lightweight and sleek design. The bezels on this are very prominent and they take away the aesthetics of this phone. The bottom bezels are huge; I don't understand why they are so huge.
The front camera is at the top of the screen trapped inside a small u shaped notch. The earpiece is located right above it. The sides of this phone are slightly curved to ensure maximum grip while using this phone so the chances of this slipping away from your hand becomes less.
At the back of this phone you will get your camera, which consists of three lenses and the flash which is adjacent to these cameras. The fingerprint scanner is housed at the back. The placement of this scanner feels a little inconvenient.
Old-School Display
You will get a 6.75 inch IPS LCD on this cell phone. You wouldn't have any trouble seeing through the phone's screen, so you shouldn't be concerned about its size. When compared to other high-end AMOLED screens on different cell phones, this cell phone's 260 ppi screen resolution appears lower.
The screen-to-body ratio is acceptable. The ratio is a little above 80%, which in my opinion is not awful. Moreover, the colors on this screen are decent and you can see all the intricacies on it. This phone does not have an amazing AMOLED panel. To keep the cost of this cell phone in check, Nokia employed an IPS LCD panel in this phone.
Given that this phone was released this year and isn't too old, I believe Nokia should have provided a better display. The IPS LCD doesn't look good at all.
The IPS panel is not at all bad, but new screen panels have replaced it since they provide better color contrast and dispersion. However, there won't be any issues using this phone indoors; but even so, using it outside can make it difficult to see through the screen.
How does it perform
This phone has RAM options ranging from 3 to 4GB. This phone is powered by a Unisoc chipset.
This is not the fastest chipset available today in the market. My phone's slow response to my interactions used to irritate me.
The sluggishness of this chipset becomes prominent even while performing simple tasks. If you use two to three heavy applications at the same time, it becomes a pain to use this phone. I don’t ask for much but in this age of technology this is not acceptable.
I have used the 3GB version of this cell phone, so I can't pass a judgment about the 4GB RAM model but I think it wouldn’t be much of a difference. Just think how much better can it get with just 1GB of additional RAM.
One good thing is that it does fine when it comes to gaming. I have played PUBG and Asphalt but I haven’t felt lag which would affect my gameplay. Yes, I have noticed the drop in the frames but it was still doing good.
Latest Version of android
One thing I was happy about when I first got my hands on this phone was its software. It has the latest version of android right out of the box. The phone comes with android 12. For the next few coming years you shouldn’t worry about the software updates as it already has the latest version of the software.
So, if you are looking to purchase this now you won’t have any problems in terms of software updates.
Just Good Camera
This phone comes equipped with a triple camera setup at the back. The main camera sensor has a 13MP lens, while there is also a 2MP macro and a 2MP depth sensor besides it. The camera produces good results but it doesn’t have the crispness and vibrancy of a high-end camera phone.
The picture of this camera looks pretty basic as the phone doesn’t do any adjustments on its own. You can still manually do the editing and apply filters on the pictures but it can only be done after you take the picture not before it.
The back camera is capable of recording videos in 1080p at 30 frames per second, the video that came out of this camera looks okayish but the most missed feature by me in this phone is the image stabilization technology. I hope you can relate to how hard it is to hold a camera for a long time for it to take a clear picture so I wish this feature could be there.
The front camera has a 5MP sensor inside it. This can get you going through your online meetings and video calls but it is not the best camera available in the market today. It sometimes produces images of very low quality, which is very disappointing to see because this phone came out this year in 2022 so it should at least check the basic benchmarks.
Humangasour Battery
I have to give credit to this phone where it is due. This phone has one of the largest batteries packed inside in the phone I have used. It comes with a large 5050 mAh battery. I am totally impressed by this feature of this phone.
The phone can easily go through a day or more if you use it lightly. You can do gaming, record videos and do heavy tasks on this phone and can still get a handsome battery backup. One more reason why this phone lasts long is because it has a LCD panel so it doesn’t go too heavy on the battery.
It's not all good; there are some drawbacks, such as the inability to fast charge your phone because there is no option for that. You can't charge your phone wirelessly, so you have to live with that as well.
The most vexing aspect for me is its slow charging because you must be patient after successfully draining its battery. It will take approximately a reasonable amount of time which is very annoying.
