What we don’t like

  • Lack of flagship-material polish
  • No expandable storage
  • No telephoto camera

OnePlus has never failed to impress me with its incredible smartphones. They have the latest and most comprehensive offering, packing in all of the features that make a true flagship device without breaking the bank. I will talk about the powerful specs and features of the OnePlus 9 for a more nuanced take on this amazing phone.

Design – Extraordinary

Its design is truly extraordinary, with a premium glass and metal finish that exudes elegance and sophistication. The sleek and slim design makes it easy to carry around and use, while the three nature-infused colorways evoke a sense of calmness and tranquility.

Colors

I fell in love with the Winter Mist colorway of the OnePlus 9, with its gorgeous pearlescent effect that transitions from a cool grey to a soft blue. I also like the Arctic Sky version, which features a subtle and sophisticated sky-blue tone that is both soothing and refreshing. And its Astral Black colorway is just as stunning, with a deep black finish that is understated yet striking.

Protection

The screen is protected by one of the hardest glass protectors for smartphones yet, the Corning Gorilla Glass 5. This means that it can withstand even the most extreme impacts and drops without being damaged. One thing I missed in its global version is the IP rating which is a must these days to withstand water splashes and rain.

Display – Bright and HDR

I also love its 6.55-inch AMOLED display that is ultra-sharp and crisp and also gets incredibly bright at up to 1100 nits peak. The phone is perfect for watching your favorite HDR10+ movies and shows, as well as playing games with vibrant graphics.

Performance – Blazing Fast

The latest android 10 wrapped in Oxygen OS and the most powerful chipset available, the Snapdragon 888 with 5G makes this a true powerhouse. With 12 GB of RAM for super smooth multitasking and 256 GB of storage, there’s plenty of room to store all my favorite apps, photos, videos, and games.

Gaming

I played PUBG Mobile (my favorite game) on this phone, and it handled it with aplomb.

The graphics were truly stunning, with smooth frame rates that didn’t drop even when the action got intense.

Camera – Advanced and Impressive

Its camera is also top-notch, with a whopping 48 MP main camera that captures stunning shots even in low light. I love the fact that it is equipped with both optical and digital zoom, as well as an ultra-wide angle camera for even more versatility and creativity.

Camera Features

Through its camera, I think I make better videos than a professional photographer because it has 8k video recordings and 4k 60fps with EIS that enables you to see a smooth picture.

Selfie Camera

The single selfie camera does enough to make my selfies look great. Its auto-HDR feature and wide view are perfect for group photos.

Network – Super Fast Connectivity

Every OnePlus phone has 5g enabled as it is super fast and stable. With high downloading speeds, it is the perfect device for streaming and watching videos online. It also has NFC enabled to make mobile payments easily and securely with the tap of a finger.

Battery – Long-Lasting and Powerful

The biggest drawback for me is the battery, it could be bigger but still, it’s powerful.  With a 4500mAH capacity, it lasted a whole day or more for me. But the thing that tempts me is its 65 Watts charging capability, through which I get a 1-100% charge in just half an hour. I also love its fast wireless charging, which also gives super-fast charging.

With its high-end design, blazing-fast performance, advanced and impressive camera, super-fast connectivity, and long-lasting battery life, it sets a new standard for what a smartphone can do. If you’re looking for an excellent device, the OnePlus 9 should be at the top of your list.
