Review of Oppo A16K

Oppo A16K has a dependable design. It comes with Android 11, which isn't the latest OS version. The phone works fine for everyday use but lags when playing heavier games. The camera leaves much to be desired in terms of quality though.

What we don’t like

  • Below average camera performance
  • No fast-charging support
  • Lagging due to poor performance

Want to make your traveling easier? The Oppo A16K is more than up for the task.

I tested the performance, battery, display, operating system and camera. The results reinforce my statement regarding traveling with this phone.

It boasts a solid and practical design, comes with Android 11 and is affordable. Its performance is only average, though, so it can’t handle heavy gaming or large loads. But the long-lasting battery will for sure leave you interested.

Design – More Than You Asked For

As far as the design is concerned, I found the OPPO A16K to be a great phone. It has a solid build and good design. It’s lightweight at only 175 g, making it easy to carry around.

The 6.52-inch IPS LCD display is bright and clear, with excellent color reproduction. The resolution is average at 720 x 1600 pixels, but the 20:9 ratio gives you plenty of screen real estate.

As a plus point, Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protects the display from scratches and other damage.

Performance – Average At Best

I have to say that I am quite mixed about the performance of the Oppo A16K. The phone sports a MediaTek MT6765G Helio G35 chipset which is an average performer.

It also has a mediocre PowerVR GE8320 GPU. This makes the phone serviceable for everyday use, but completely ill-equipped to handle multitasking.

However, the phone does have a plus point in the micro-SDXC card slot. The ROM is only 128GB so, it could have been better. The RAM is 8GB which is satisfactory.

Battery Life – Manageable

I have to say that the battery is quite good. It’s a Li-Po 4230 mAh, non-removable battery, and it’s lasted me a good amount of time. However, there is no fast-charging support, which is a bit of a downside.

Network/ Wireless – Easy Connectivity

For me, the Oppo A16K has good technology. It has 4G bands which are great for the Pakistani market, being the fastest communication technology available. The speed is pretty decent too with HSPA 42.2/5.76 Mbps and LTE-A supports.

The WLAN is also good, and the Bluetooth is great.

The USB of the phone is micro-USB 2.0, which is standard nowadays.

Software – Great, If Outdated

OPPO A16K comes with Android 11 out of the box. While Android 12 is the latest version of the operating system, Android 11 is still a perfectly capable OS. However, there are some advantages to having Android 12 that make it worth upgrading if you can.

It has a number of new features and improvements, such as an improved notification system, better battery management tools, and support for high-refresh-rate displays.

However, if you’re happy with Android 11, then there’s no need to upgrade. Oppo A16K is a capable phone with a great if outdated operating system.

Camera – Rock-Bottom

The Oppo A16K comes with a 13MP main camera and a 5MP selfie camera. Both cameras are below average in terms of quality and features. The main camera only offers basic functions like LED flash and HDR, while the selfie camera is even less capable, with only HDR as its main feature.

As such, I would not recommend this phone to anyone looking for a good camera experience.

Final Verdict

The Oppo A16K is a great phone for those who are looking for a solid and practical design. It comes with Android 11, which is a great operating system, though it is not the latest version.

The performance of the phone is mixed. It can handle everyday use but not heavy gaming or load. The camera is also not up to the mark.

All in all, the Oppo A16K has some positive aspects for those who are looking for an affordable and practical phone. But there are much better options available in the market in the same price range.
