It is human behavior to buy things that are visually alluring at first appearance. If it looks attractive, we try it out! Be it clothing, shoes, or electronic gadgets. Oppo Watch is no exception. Its glossy and elegant design will instantly draw your attention, adding a touch of class to any outfit. But its features and technology are what truly sets it apart. When I started testing the Oppo Watch, the smooth transitions between the activities amazed me!
I’m always excited to review the latest product in the market. This watch is an impressive piece of advanced machinery with all the bells and whistles you could want from a modern timepiece. An integrated heart rate monitor and activity tracker proves to be the perfect companion for your daily life. It measures how long you’ve been working out and keeps a track of calories burn and sleep patterns; I was also impressed with its GPS capabilities that allows you to hike or run without a phone.
In this article, I will tell you how the Oppo Watch makes staying connected to every beat of your life possible. From its elegant design to comprehensive fitness and health tracking, this watch will surely bring a smile to your face. Let’s begin with its display and design.
Display and Design – Justice to its Flagship
I got the chance to try out the 46mm variant of the watch, but a smaller 41mm option is available too with a slight difference in design. One thing I immediately noticed about the Oppo Watch is its weight distribution. It feels just right, unlike a toy on your wrist. Its frame is made of series-6000 aluminum, which held up well during my relatively carefree use of the device. The watch is available in black, with a glossy gold finish also an option for those looking for a bit more bling. If you opt for the 41mm variant, there’s a third color available – the Silver Mist.
If you’re on the slimmer side, you might find that different smartwatches look comically big on your wrist. But the Oppo Watch is an exception to that rule. Its 1.91-inch display intuitively curves on the sides, making it appear slightly smaller than other watches. The display itself is a standout feature of the Oppo Watch. With a resolution of 402 x 476, it’s one of the highest on any wearable available yet. Text and icons are sharp and clear, and you won’t be able to see individual pixels at standard viewing distances. The AMOLED construction of the panel adds another level of immersion, as the sides of the display fade away in the frame with no discernible edge or bezel. The vibrant and punchy colors stand out beautifully against the inky black background.
The Fluororubber band is a comfortable strap suitable for all wrist sizes, with plenty of holes for adjustment. It is similar to the Apple Watch’s silicone strap, but a bit more rigid, making it slightly more challenging to put on, especially as you get closer to the holes near the watch face. You’ll appreciate the Oppo Watch’s design if you prefer smartphones with curved displays. It has a minimalist appearance that stands out from other watches. It has a water-resistance of 5ATM, allowing you to wear it while swimming or participating in water-related activities. However, keep in mind that the certification doesn’t include saltwater.
Lastly, the left side of the watch houses the loudspeaker, and two pushers on the right side help with functions and navigation. The bottom button includes a slight green accent that enhances the overall design.
Features – Beyond Expectations
The Oppo Watch has some of the best features you can find on a smartwatch today, and it’s a perfect fit for anyone who loves to stay fit. The watch has a heart-rate monitor on the back that checks your pulse regularly and keeps track of any unusual or high readings. The inbuilt GPS tracks your run or cycles. The Oppo Watch even has a sedentary alert that reminds you to give your body a stretch every hour. With Google Fit, you can track hundreds of exercise options, including water sports.
To make things even better, the Oppo Watch also suggests downloading the HeyTap Health app. It brings five specially developed workout routines: fitness run, fat burn run, outdoor walk, outdoor cycling, and swimming. These workout routines are complete with instructions as well as expected heart rates resulting after the workout. The watch also has sleep-tracking functionality, breaking down your sleeping patterns with light and deep sleep fluctuations. It’s accurate and can be helpful for anyone trying to improve their sleep patterns.
The Oppo Watch is not just for fitness enthusiasts. Now answer calls on the go with your watch whenever it’s connected to your phone, and people on the other side can hear you just fine. The LTE variant of the watch comes with eSIM capabilities available in some markets, which we’re yet to test. The watch is water-resistant and rated to be safe at pressure levels equivalent to 50 meters underwater. The Oppo Watch is a great companion for anyone looking for the best smartwatches available in the market.
Operating System – Smooth and Sophisticated
Smartwatches have been around for quite some time, but the inconsistent performance and frequent lags have shattered the trust in smartwatches brands. However, the new crop of Samsung watches, which runs on Tizen OS and Exynos silicon, was an exception to this. Before the release of the Oppo Watch, Wear OS devices were typically less fluid in terms of performance. It’s great to report that the Oppo Watch scores high in this regard, but it does reveal additional issues plaguing the platform.
The Oppo Watch runs on a customized version of Wear OS called Color OS. This approach retains the features that work well and updates only the ones that need improvement. You can still use the basic Wear OS gestures to navigate, such as flicking to scroll and shaking to return to the home screen. The watch also has several faces with different numbers of complications. The Color OS customizations add a lot of value to the entire user experience. With its intuitive UI, the Oppo Watch lets you customize the watch face to a great extent.
You can add photos as backgrounds and choose from various widgets to display the information that matters the most to you. You can also use the HeyTap Health app, which acts as a hub for all the features of the watch. The app has a user-friendly interface and offers several customization options, making it easy for users to personalize their Oppo Watch. In conclusion, the Oppo Watch’s customizations make it stand out from the rest of the Wear OS crowd.
Battery Life – Staying for Long
Battery life is one of the most critical factors to consider when purchasing smartwatches. In our daily lives, where mobile accessories have become indispensable, the need for a long-lasting battery is vital. The Oppo Watch has a 430mAh battery, which sounds promising at first glance, but it could be better to live up to expectations in practice. Even with moderate usage, the battery life is subpar. Oppo claims it can last up to 36 hours, but in reality, it barely runs 20 hours.
However, the Oppo Watch does offer a Power Saver mode that extends the battery life by up to 20 days. Although we only used this mode to extend the watch’s battery life for a few extra hours, it can still be a handy feature for those who require it. In this mode, the watch operates at a lower refresh rate. It only displays essential information such as the time, steps, heart rate, and notifications.
The Oppo Watch has VOOC Flash charging, a popular feature in Oppo’s mobile devices. It allows the watch with an almost discharged battery to charge completely within an hour. However, you must use the provided cradle to charge the watch as it doesn’t support wireless charging. It’s worth noting that this only applies to the larger version of the Oppo Watch. The smaller 41mm version has a smaller 300mAh battery, and we still have to find out the performance of battery life in that model.

Final Verdict
The Oppo Watch is an excellent smartwatch offering a great set of features and impressive performance. Its design is unique and attractive, so it stands out from the crowd. The Color OS customizations add value to the Wear OS experience, making it more intuitive and easier to use. It has heart rate monitoring, activity tracking, and sleep tracking features, making it a great choice for fitness-minded users.
Unfortunately, the battery life could be more impressive. It’s good enough to last you through the day but will not last you 20 hours unless on Power Saving mode. Despite this issue, I’d still recommend the Oppo Watch as it offers plenty of features and an excellent design for the asking price. The Oppo Watch is an ideal choice for anyone looking for a smartwatch that looks good and performs better.
