Pizza’s Watchful Protector: My Review of Pizza Max

When all else had failed, Pizza Max didn’t. For most of you, I assume, that’s quite a bold statement to make. But for me, it was one of those see-it-to-believe moments. You just had to be there. Let’s rewind a little to give some context. I still remember it vividly, even though it has been a few months since I visited Pizza Max.

It had been a long day. My friend and I had gone shopping in Hyderi to stock up on some suitable clothes for the upcoming winter season. We planned to spend about three hours browsing for clothes and then find a good place to get food. But at around six in the evening, after we were done, the rush and commotion around that area were too much. 

We opened our phones and searched for a place that was close by and also had delicious food. Located at Shahrah-e-Jahangir Road in Block H of North Nazimabad Town, Pizza Max was like a guardian angel. Why do I bestow such a compliment on Pizza Max? It’s because it deserves it. Keep in mind that I don’t say this lightly. Pizza Max has genuinely managed to impress me.

Food: No Complaints

Let me put it. The pizza of Pizza Max is beyond words, no matter what combination of letters I manage to write. Still, I’ll try to explain it. Pizza Max is one of the best pizza restaurants in Karachi. 

For hardcore Karachiites, that’s not surprising! But, I’d admit, I had grown lax of Pizza Max these past couple of years. My recent experience has really rejuvenated my mind about Pizza Max. It’s now on the top of my list of pizza places.

The Creamy Super Max was my favorite. It had the right amount of sauce to make it pop! Plus, the chicken was spicy, and the seasoning beautifully complimented the taste of the pizza without disturbing its essence. If you’re ever at Pizza Max, don’t forget this one!

The flavor that we ordered was the  flavor Chicken Fajita. I know what most of you will be thinking at this point. Why Fajita? There are many better and more innovative flavors on the menu, so why go for this one? 

Frankly speaking, Chicken Fajita was one of the loves of my life when I was a kid, and this love has persisted over the years. No matter which pizza joint I visit, the Chicken Fajita is never off the table.

So, I’m happy to report that the Chicken Fajita at Pizza Max wasn’t disappointing. This did make me supremely happy!

Price: Very Good Deals

There were just two of us that visited the place. We went with the 2B2B Deal 2 since that was an intelligent decision. The deal included the following:

• 2 Regular Pizza (10-inch)

The price is affordable at only PKR 1599. The exceptional value further enhances this for money we received as the size of the pizzas was filling. We ate until we thought we’d burst with food, and there was still enough pizza left for us to pack up and take home. 

The part I found uncool was that no drinks were included in the deal. I’m sure you understand how difficult it is to swallow a pizza by drowning it in a cold drink. Therefore, we had to order it separately. The price of the beverage was:

• 1.5 Litre: PKR 180

Another thing that I appreciate is that all the prices that were quoted on the menu were inclusive of the 13% GST. So, when the total bill came, there were no additional charges.

Service: Almost Perfect

The service was quite good. The waiters knew what they were selling, which made me respect them even more. Often, I’ve visited restaurants where the waiters were utterly unaware of the dish and its composition. So Pizza Max was a welcome change!

I’d also appreciate the timings of every branch of Pizza Max. They open early in the morning at 11 AM and are on service until 5:30 AM. That makes it very convenient for us to visit whenever we’re in the mood for pizza. I have another option from where I can satiate my midnight fast food cravings! That’s a win in my book.

Ambiance: Washrooms Are A Turnoff

Hygiene was an issue, mainly in the washrooms. When I went in to wash my hands, the floor was wet. Furthermore, there was no soap or liquid with which I could wash my hands. That is something I would ask the management to improve since the rest of the experience was so lovely.

Over-crowding was not an issue. There was more than enough space for everyone to sit and eat. The joint had a Play Area as well for kids. Overall, the gentry was middle-class with a mix of families and bachelors. You won’t feel uncomfortable going with either of these parties, I can promise you!

Honorable Mentions: Italian Extravaganza

The Mozarella Sticks are an absolute must-have. They serve as the perfect starter for your meal. These bread sticks were filled with creamy melted mozzarella. They were then fried in oil until they were crisp and golden. Rich tomato sauce is served with these sticks.

A heavenly sight! You’ll be hard-pressed to stop your hand from touching these sticks as soon as they are placed in front of you. Yeah, they’re that good! I don’t joke about food.

However, if you’re in the mood for a meaty starter, go for the Tangy Wings. From the looks of it, it has just the right amount of zest and flair to them. Any die-hard foodie will be left licking their fingers. 

The serving size is also plentiful, with six pieces costing only PKR 399. Did I mention the dipping sauce that’s provided with the wings? Well, I did now!

And that’s not all! I’ve barely had time to talk about the sandwiches and lasagnas. Let me keep it brief for your sake. I’ll only be discussing the best flavors in both of them. You decide whether you want to eat them or not. 

I’d say the chicken one is better for the lasagna than the beef. . That’s because beef lasagna is a highly tricky dish to pull off, and I’m a little disappointed to declare that Pizza Max does not have the hang of it. Chicken lasagne is another thing entirely. The delicate dough slices are melt-in-your-good, and the cheese is marvelous. 

On the other hand, Roasted Beef is far superior in sandwiches. Served with coleslaw and fries, there is nothing about this dish that doesn’t deserve praise. From the beef to the sauce to the buns, everything’s performing at its superior. This a definite recommendation if I say so myself. Don’t miss it. You’ll regret it later, and I don’t want that at all!

Final Verdict:

How mistaken was I? By not giving Pizza Max its due chance. Just one visit was enough for me to recognize the brilliance of Pizza Max. Not only is the pizza delicious, but the service and price are also customer-friendly. This is why Pizza Max has established itself so well in the cutthroat pizza business in Karachi.
