Realme 8 Pro offers an excellent camera plus a large battery. It comes at a slightly cheaper price tag than other phones with similar sorts of features. However, the fingerprint scanner isn’t the best.

What we don’t like

  • Display only 60Hz
  • Single speaker lacks bass
  • Poor in-display fingerprint scanner

The competition between companies like Xiaomi and Realme to capture the market of the sub-continent and Europe has forced them to make some good phones. This phone is the result of that.

This battle has created doors for companies to introduce smartphones at a competitive price point, with features that would make their phones popular. This healthy competition has created options for consumers like you and me.

Realme is a budget phone which was released last year. This phone has some amazing features which would catch your attention towards it. It has an amazing camera and a super duper display which we usually don’t get to see in this category of budget phones. If you’re looking to save some additional money on your phone purchase, get this amazing phone from Telemart via Savyour and enjoy fantastic cashback.

We have reviewed this phone in detail so let’s dive deep into this phone and know more!

Bold Design:

This smartphone comes with a very bold design statement. It has a written design on its back, basically written by the company. This is the company’s mission statement, but some people find it too funky.

This phone is made out of plastic. The back and sides of this phone are total plastic. The display of this phone is a Super AMOLED display. The phone looks elegant, but the message at the back removes the elegance from this phone. This phone has four exciting colors Infinite Blue, Illuminating Yellow Punk Black, Infinite Black, and Illuminating Yellow.

Some may find problems with the build quality of the frame. But, I personally quite like it as it feels sturdy and doesn’t look cheap. The buttons of this phone are very responsive as well. However, the fingerprint scanner does not always respond accurately.

Front Camera:

The front camera of this device is located on the top left corner. It is basically a cutout in the display. It doesn’t bother much although when I was watching videos on this phone, I found it annoying.

Annoying bezels:

The phone has big bezels around it, especially at the bottom. I do not know why companies are keeping this bezel. I mean C’mon guys it takes away the aesthetics of this phone. This phone is a very light device. It weighs around 176 grams, which is not very usual with phones coming these days.

Loud back of this phone:

At the back, there is a big camera bump that holds inside it four cameras. At the bottom of the phone, you will get the mighty 3.5mm jack, which mobile manufacturers do not value much nowadays. Besides it, there is a type C charger and a speaker grill.

Amazing-Display:

This phone houses a large SUPER AMOLED display. It is one of the most premium displays offered in this mobile phone segment. Budget phones normally do not go with this display to keep the costs down, and this can add a lot of value for some people.

Realme 8 pro has a 6.4 inches display, this screen gives out superior display quality. It has punchy colours. The pixels per inch density of this phone is 411. It provides a punchy colour scheme to the phone. The screen to body ratio of this cell phone is quite good as well. It has a 83.3% screen to body ratio.

The colour scheme on this phone is very good. It has punchy colours to it. Vibrance, saturation everything is on point with this phone. It has a 60Hz fresh rate, which would make your user interaction buttery smooth.

I didn’t have any problems while using this phone indoors and outdoors. I could easily see the screen. What annoys me the most is the bezels and the camera cutout on the screen.

Honestly, I enjoyed my time with this phone, I really like the Super Amoled panel. It provides a bright colour contrast.

Satisfactory performance:

This cell phone comes in Snapdragon and Qualcomm chipsets. Both the chipsets would do just fine. I have used the one from Qualcomm. It did fine when going through light apps but when I used heavy apps it started showing sluggishness.

When you switch through some heavy apps, you will feel a lag. This phone’s chipset is not future proof as there are better options available in the market today.

This phone has two RAM options; 6GB and 4GB. I would say 6 GB is the safe bet here. I think it is a good offer considering this phone doesn’t fall in the category of pricey phones.

I do a little gaming when I am not busy. I used to play Call of Duty on this phone but I couldn’t get the optimum performance from this phone. It didn’t give me 60 frames per second, it is not a very big concern but still it is a red flag for our gamer community. I would advise all the gamers to look for other options if they want some heavy gaming capabilities out of their phones.

Laggy Software Performance:

This comes out with an android 11 out of the box, with an option to update it to the latest Android 12. Realme has introduced their user interface in this phone, which is Realme UI 2.0. This is not the best experience I have had with cell phones using their custom UI. The user interface shows a lot of lags even while doing simple tasks.

I encountered a blue filter problem with this phone, where it turns on the blue filter all by itself. I tried to turn it off many times but it wouldn’t just go away. I had to restart my phone to turn it off.

One more problem I faced was saving my portrait selfies on this phone. I expected a better performance from this phone, I didn’t expect such an amazing phone missing out on improving their custom UI.

Huge Main Camera:

The phone has a four-lens camera setup at the back. This quad camera has a main 108 MP camera lens alongside 8 MP ultrawide, 2 MP macro and a 2 MP lens.

The main camera lens does a good job, I quite liked the quality of the images captured by the main lens. The phone does a good job at minimizing shadows when HDR is on. Color Saturation and Sharpening are quite good as well on this phone. The main camera does a very fine noise reduction job. However, the ultra-wide camera isn’t up to the mark in picture quality.

The back camera is very powerful. It is powerful enough to record videos in very high quality. It can record in 4k, 1080p, and 720p. You will also get very high frames when lowering from 4k video recording. The video quality of this phone made me a fan of this phone’s camera.

The front camera also has a very good picture quality. It is a 16 MP lens capable of recording 1080p videos at a good rate.

Good Battery:

This phone houses a 4500 mAh battery inside it. I didn’t face any problem getting at least a day’s backup from this phone. I used this phone with a screen time of 6-7 hours on average which is enough to get me going through my whole day.

I did not do much gaming on this phone, but I think it would do fine even if I do some. This phone has fast charging capabilities. The charging speed literally impressed me. I easily charged my phone within an hour. However, the phone doesn’t have fast charging capabilities, which I think is not a game changer considering the price tag of this phone.

This phone comes with a 65 watts charger out of the box which charges up the phone in no time.
