“Health is Wealth”
True wealth is not measured by money or material goods but by our overall well-being. A healthy body and mind can help us better cope with life’s obstacles and fully enjoy every moment of existence. For optimal well-being, tracking your health and wellness goals is important.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 is here to help you achieve balance in life. It provides comprehensive health tracking with advanced sensors, a robust battery life of up to 50 hours on a single charge, and stylish designs that let you express yourself. When I wear this smartwatch, I feel equipped to care for my body and mind.
In this product review, I will share my thoughts on the features, design, battery life, and operating system of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5, covering everything you need to know before making a purchase.
Display and Design – Carries the Samsung DNA
Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 are available in 2 sizes: 40mm and 44mm. The 1.19-inch display on the 40mm Watch 5 features an always-on mode, allowing you to check your stats with just a glance so you can glance at your stats even when your wrist is down. While the 44mm model offers a larger 1.39-inch display for better visibility. It features bright, sharp, and responsive displays that enable ease of reading the notifications at a glance. I appreciate that each model has the same features with just size differences to fit all wrist sizes.
After wearing this watch, I went in for outdoor activities, and it performed brilliantly even in direct sunlight. Its display brightens up to 1,000 units, so that you can track activity on the screen without any problems.
The watch remains water resistant up to 5ATM with an IP68 rating. Its sapphire crystal glass is Samsung’s pride – with a claim to be 60% strong and resistant to scratches. So no more conscious efforts into keeping your watch from damage.
The 40mm model is available in Graphite (black), Pink Gold, and Silver colors, while the 44mm version offers a Sapphire Blue, Silver, and Graphite colors. The Sapphire tone is a muted mid-tone blue hue. It is also very lightweight and slim, so I do not feel like a burden when wearing this watch.
Features – Track Everything You Need
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 has features to help you stay healthy and productive. It has advanced sensors, including a Skin Temperature sensor, Fitness, and Sleep tracking.
Skin Temperature Sensors
The Galaxy Watch 5 has the latest technology to track skin temperature. This feature helps to stay aware of any fluctuation in body temperature, which can be an early sign of physical fatigue or illness.
The Galaxy Watch 5 has built-in GPS navigation to track running and cycling routes. To get personalized coaching, I am able to access third-party fitness apps like “Home Workout – No Equipment” or “Wearfit Pro”. Plus, there are over 90 preloaded exercises of all levels that help you to get in shape.
The Galaxy Watch 5 tracks sleep and gives insights into improving your sleep pattern. It also has a Bedtime Reminder feature that helps you stick to a regular sleep schedule.
Operating System – Powered by Wear OS
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 runs Wear OS powered by Samsung, which is essentially Google’s smartwatch software at the core of the experience. Every feature and app on this watch has been optimized to run smoothly and seamlessly. It also pairs and syncs effortlessly with other Samsung devices in the same user ecosystem.
The Wear OS operating system also offers a great selection of apps that are easy to use. I can easily access my Emails, Maps, Google Assistant, and other third-party apps.
Battery Life – Up to 50 Hours of Battery
The Galaxy Watch 5 offers up to 50 hours of battery life on a single charge. It only takes about 60 minutes to recharge the watch, so I can quickly get back out and do what I need to do. In addition, Samsung has included an adaptive power-saving mode that will adjust how the watch uses its battery and extend its life even further.
When I enabled the Always-On Display (AOD) and SpO2 monitoring feature, the battery life dropped slightly to around 30 hours. Still, it was a worthwhile trade-off for what is offered by these features. I needed to switch off the AOD mode to extend the battery’s life even further.
