Pasta Paradiso: A Review of The Patio

It was during my stay at a dear friend’s house in Block 4, Clifton, that I discovered a secret concealed on F-Street: The Patio. As the name rolled off my friend’s lips, a spark ignited within me, an insatiable hunger for the extraordinary and the exquisite. 

The mere mention of this mystical restaurant awakened my senses, leaving me brimming with anticipation. With each passing moment, my curiosity grew, and I couldn’t help but succumb to the enchantment that awaited me. Come, let me share with you the tale of The Patio.

Taste: Sweet N’ Sour

There it was on The Patio’s menu: Grilled Chicken Truffle Fettuccine. Tender pieces of succulent grilled chicken danced amidst a bountiful forest of earthy mushrooms, laying gracefully upon a bed of silky fettuccine. With bated breath, I took my first bite, and oh, what a revelation it was! 

The smoky char of the grilled chicken, a testament to the chef’s mastery over the flames, mingled seamlessly with the rich umami notes of the mushrooms, their earthy essence lending depth and complexity to the dish. And that luscious cream sauce! It luxuriated upon my palate, its velvety embrace coating every strand of fettuccine, ensuring that each mouthful was an unadulterated indulgence.

But it was the Peach Pavlova that stole my heart! A sight to behold, the meringue stood tall and proud, its crisp exterior giving way to a cloud-like interior that cradled a treasure trove of delights. As I plunged my spoon into its heart, the meringue shattered into delicate shards, revealing peaches and cream within. 

The perfectly ripe & juicy peaches burst with a vibrant sweetness that when mixed with the ethereal cream, is super delicious. Though it is hard to explain the exact flavor, but just thinking of it still makes me salivate. Each spoonful was an invitation to paradise. However, it’s completely okay if not everyone feels the same way about food. Just because I loved it doesn’t mean I’ll force you to like it as well.

Price: I’m Speechless!

The Patio’s pricing considerations fell slightly out of tune. The Grilled Chicken Truffle Fettucine, priced at PKR 1380, was on par with other pasta establishments in the city. 

However, when it came to the Peach Pavlova, priced at PKR 950, I couldn’t help but feel disappointed. The petite serving size didn’t align with its relatively higher price, leaving me yearning for a more substantial portion.

Service: Somewhat Concerning

Unfortunately, the service was a bumpy road! While the staff displayed some attentiveness, there was a hint of mismanagement that cast a shadow over the proceedings. I found myself missing essential cutlery items on the table, prompting multiple requests to rectify the oversight. 

Furthermore, the absence of hand sanitizer was rather concerning, especially in the current climate, and despite my inquiries, the staff seemed unable to produce it. Nevertheless, amidst these hiccups, I must commend The Patio for its seamless FoodPanda delivery option – always a plus in my book!

Ambience: Highs and Lows

The Patio was simply wonderful, exuding a peaceful aura that instantly put me at ease. The location was easily accessible, and the ample parking space provided a hassle-free experience. Every detail seemed to be on point, from the tasteful decor to the soothing lighting. 

However, one aspect slightly marred the otherwise idyllic setting – the allowance of smoking indoors, which I personally didn’t appreciate. 

Honorable Mentions: Summertime Splurge

On lazy summer afternoons, when the golden sun casts its warm glow, if you seek respite from the summer heat, then The Patio’s Summer Hi-Tea is an experience not to be missed. Offered every Thursday and Saturday from 4 PM to 7 PM, The Patio invites you to partake in a delightful spread. 

The best part? It’s all for a mere PKR 1800 plus tax – far more economical than other buffet restaurants in the city. Allow yourself to be captivated by the magic that unfolds within these walls.

Final Verdict

The Patio definitely has its highs and lows. However, the overall experience was, for me, satisfying. If you’re looking for a place to relax or treat yourself to something special, then The Patio is an ideal destination. After all, it’s not every day that one discovers their own paradise!
